Our beginnings...
In March 2010, a group of 11 Christians started meeting on Wednesday nights in the home of Gordon and Judy Hill for Bible study.
On July 14, 2010, they met with the desire to organize a new conservative Baptist Church. They contacted Joe Coppedge for his help and guidance. With further prayer, numerous phone calls, and meetings they were finally able to start this new church with the help of Greg and Renee Bunn and Joe Coppedge.

The next step...
Unable to find a building in Bolivar, they rented unit A in a strip mall just off Highway 13 south of Bolivar, MO. Through the generosity of the members they were able to furnish the church, and on August 15, 2010 the first church service was held. There were 26 charter members at that time. Bro. Wayne Mayse became our Pastor, Gordan Hill was our song leader, and Judy Hill was the pianist.
Heritage Baptist Church continued to grow and soon outgrew their rented space. The decision was made to double their space and rent Unit B. After much work by church members they were able to start Sunday School classes in November 2010.
In March 2011, Bro. Wayne Mayse offered his resignation as pastor and in April 2011 Bro. Gary Urich was elected pastor.
Heritage Baptist Church celebrated its one year anniversary. During the first year there were two baptisms of new Christians.

Our home...
In September 2011, discussions were started about purchasing a permanent home for Heritage Baptist. This included the possibility of purchasing the Jump Oil Company building. In October the members voted unanimously to purchase the building and in November the work to construct our new home had begun. Some of the work was contracted, but large portions were by completed by our members. Money was also donated by the members for the furnishings, interior items, etc...
On Sunday, April 1, 2012, Heritage Baptist Church had their first church service in the new building. The church has continued to grow and God has blessed it beyond our expectations. The church has added a fellowship hall. The membership is 116 with attendance between 75-85 on Sunday mornings.
Bro. Gary Urich retired (again) in 2015, and the search for a new pastor began. After much prayer and seeking God's will, Pastor Gary Walton was called as pastor on November 8, 2015. Heritage continues to make disciples as commanded by scripture and to add new believers and members.
